Entity attachments — attach a file to any record

Almost every record type in XBuddy — a Deal, a Contact, an Employee, an Invoice, a Project, an Asset, a Purchase Order — has an Attachments panel on its own detail page. This is the most common way people actually add and find files; you rarely need to go through /documents/browse for day-to-day work.

  1. Open any record’s detail page (e.g. a CRM Deal, an HR Employee, a Finance Invoice) and scroll to the Attachments section.

  2. Click Upload to add a new file directly — it’s created in Documents and automatically filed into that record’s app folder (see App folders above), no manual folder selection needed.

  3. Click Attach Existing to link a file that’s already in the library (say, a template stored under Apps/CRM/Templates) to this record, without duplicating it.

  4. Remove an attachment from the record with the Unlink action — this removes the link only, it does not delete the underlying file, which may still be attached elsewhere or reachable from Browse.

A single file can be linked to multiple entities at once. Open the file in Documents → Links tab → Add Link to attach it to, say, both a Deal and its Contact, or both a Purchase Order and the Vendor. Unlinking from one record never affects the others.
