Comments, feedback and acknowledgements
Know whether people read and understood an article.
When to use
Use acknowledgements when you publish a policy that everyone must read, and use comments and helpful/not helpful ratings to improve ordinary articles.
Before you start
- Reading, rating and asking need
kb:read; posting comments uses a separate comment permission (kb:comment). knowledge.comment_moderation(default: off): when on, comments must be approved before they show.
Steps
-
Open the article at
/knowledge/kb/[id]. -
Readers click helpful or not helpful, and add a comment if needed.
-
When publishing a policy, request read acknowledgement. Each publication has its own list of recipients.
-
Readers confirm they have read it; the owner checks who has and has not confirmed.
-
With moderation on, a reviewer approves or removes pending comments.

Tips & common mistakes
- Acknowledgement is tracked per publication, so a republished policy needs fresh confirmation.
- Each user’s helpful rating counts once.
- People outside the company cannot comment or send feedback through the public portal.
