Versions and comments
Review history, restore an older version and manage reader comments.
When to use
Use this when a change needs to be rolled back, or when you want discussion on an article kept under control.
Before you start
- Version history needs the toggle
knowledge.version_control(default: on). - Comment moderation is controlled by the toggle
knowledge.comment_moderation(default: off); when on, comments must be approved before they appear. - Viewing needs
kb:read; reviewing comments needs the review permission.
Steps
-
Open the article at
/knowledge/kb/[id]. -
Open its version history and compare earlier versions.
-
Restore an earlier version if the latest edit was wrong.
-
Read comments below the article; when moderation is on, approve or reject pending ones.
-
Check the helpful / not helpful votes to see how readers rate it.

Tips & common mistakes
- Leave version control on; turning it off stops saving history.
- Turn on comment moderation if the article is widely read.
- Restoring a version is itself a change, so review before republishing.
- Public portal visitors cannot comment; comments come from signed-in users.
