Requiring read acknowledgement
Know who has read a policy or procedure.
When to use
Use this when you publish a policy or procedure that people must confirm they read, and you need a record of who has and has not.
Before you start
- Requesting acknowledgement is done on a published article at
/knowledge/kb/[id]; you needkb:write. - Acknowledgement is tracked per publication, so each new publication can ask again.
- Readers need
kb:readto open and confirm the article.
Steps
-
Publish the article from its editor.
-
On the article page
/knowledge/kb/[id], request read acknowledgement. -
Readers open the article and confirm they have read it.
-
Return to the article to see the list of people who have and have not confirmed.
-
Follow up with those who have not.

Tips & common mistakes
- Request acknowledgement only on the final published version, not on drafts.
- Republishing starts a new publication, so confirmations are tracked again.
- Use it for policies and safety procedures, not for every article.
- The list shows who has and has not confirmed; chase the second group.
